About the Union

The National Union of Grain Producers was founded in March 2010 upon an initiative of regional agricultural enterprises supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia for the purpose of consolidation of agricultural manufacturers and resolution of industrial systematic tasks.

Key goals of the Union are enhancement of the investment prospects of grain production in Russia, development of grain production as the essential field of agricultural manufacturing with application of cutting-edge developments and innovative solutions, reinforcement of competitiveness of home-produced grain in international commodity markets, representation and protection of common interests of union participants.

The mission of the Union is establishing of the system to provide secured volume and assortment, high quality parameters, and grain production profitability.

The founding congress of the Union took place on March 25, 2010 in Moscow through the kind offices of Viktor Zubkov, First Deputy of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Elena Skrynnik, Minister of Agriculture of Russia; Gennady Gorbunov, Chairperson of the Council of the Federation Committee for Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management; Valentin Denisov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Agriculture; governors of several constituents of the Russian Federation; State Duma Deputies; directors of government-owned corporations, regional agricultural enterprises. The congress gathered 200 delegates representing 32 Russian regions.

The keynote address to congress participants spoken by Dmitry Medvedev, the President of the Russian Federation, noted the following: “Today’s Russian grain producers are set with new ambitious goals – not only to establish themselves among international leaders, but to fully empower advanced agricultural technologies in grain production.”

The Council constituting the permanent joint entity of the Union, included public and state officers, honored scientists, and representatives of the leading regional agricultural enterprises.

Pavel Skurikhin was elected as the President of the National Union of Grain Producers.
