Trade of grain from the new harvest in Russia begins with record high input prices. But they will not last long, experts predict "Sovekon".
"The Russian market starts to sell grain from the new harvest. By 14 June the price of wheat (protein 12.5 percent) amounted to 12 800 rubles per ton (CPT deepwater ports). This is a record price level for the beginning of the season in 2018-2019 agricultural year starting quotes were in the range of 10 500-10 700 rubles. Support prices have a weak ruble, high export prices and lower prices for transshipment in the ports", - stated in the message of the company.
According to her, the average export price FOB (FreeonBoard) of Russian wheat, from 8 to June 14 was $205 per ton. A year ago, the July contract was at $196 per tonne two years ago - $202 per ton. Support provides concern about prospects for the new crop in the black sea region and the EU, the report says.
Citing information from market participants, experts said that the price of transhipment in deep-sea ports to the beginning of the new agricultural year are in the neighborhood of $16 per ton versus $23 a year earlier and $27 in 2018. "The reason for capacity expansion while reducing the volume of exports in the last season," the report States.
Experts "Sovekon" I do not exclude that the current prices won't keep long. When you confirm a good species for a new crop, export prices and quotes in the ports are significantly reduced, they say.
On June 14, "Sovekon" has raised the forecast of grain harvest this year at 2.3 million tons, to of 128.6 million tonnes, including 82.7 million tons of wheat (1.5 million tons).
According to updated forecasts of the Ministry of agriculture, total grain production in 2020 could reach 122,5 million tons, including wheat – to 75 million tons.
